Mieczyslaw Weinberg Society

Linus Roth is one of the leading interpreters of Mieczysław Weinberg’s music. His recording of the complete works for violin and piano by Weinberg, released by Challenge Classics in 2013 to wide public and critical acclaim, was followed by recordings of the Violin Concerto with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Concertino with the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn. Both recordings were selected as Editor’s Choice by Gramophone Magazine. In 2019, he curated two days of events dedicated to the composer, presenting six concerts at Wigmore Hall in London. To make Mieczysław Weinberg’s oeuvre better known to a wider audience, Linus Roth founded the International Mieczysław Weinberg Society in 2015.

The aim of the International Mieczysław Weinberg Society is to organise concerts, lectures, exhibitions and multidisciplinary events dedicated to the composer's music and artistic legacy, his close relationship with Dmitri Shostakovich, and his significance for post-war music up to the present day. One of the Society’s goals is also to contribute financial support to recording projects of his music, as well as to the publication and translation of articles and books about his life.
