"Very impressive" stated "The Strad Magazine" about Linus Roth, and the critic of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung wrote after one of his concerts: "his artistic maturity is outstanding!"
Linus Roth is one of the most interesting musicians of the younger generation. Recently, he received the Echo Klassik Award of the German Phonoacademy as "Best Newcomer" for his debut CD with sonatas by Brahms, Debussy, Ysaye and Mendelssohn, which was released on EMI Classics.
"Linus Roth’s playing combines an exceptional cultivated sound with technical brilliance, accompanied by musical intuition and a knowledge of different styles." recommends Anne-Sophie Mutter, whose foundation had supported the young musician for 5 years.
Linus Roth´s talent was recognised early in his youth. When he was 12 years old, he was accepted by Prof. Nicolas Chumachenco at the Music Academy Freiburg. In 1992 he won First Prize at the German national competition "Jugend musiziert". One year later, he continued his studies with Prof. Zakhar Bron at the Music Academy Lübeck, from which he graduated in 1998. Further studies followed at the Music Academy of Zurich and the Music Academy of Munich with Prof. Ana Chumachenco, who also remained his most important advisor after he finished his studies with the Soloist Diploma.
As a concert soloist, Linus Roth is making a big name for himself. He has performed with (amongst others), the Radio Orchestras of Kaiserslautern and Berlin, the Orquesta de Cordoba, the Orquesta de Navarra, the Orchestra della Teatro San Carlo Napoli,
the Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Berner Sinfonieorchester, the Orchestra of the State Opera Stuttgart, the Vienna Chamber Philharmonic, the Cologne Chamber Orchestra and the Munich Chamber Orchestra. Conductors he collaborated with are, amongst others Gerd Albrecht, Herbert Blomstedt, Andrey Boreyko, Frank Beermann, Ruben Gazarian, Matthias Formeny, Alun Francis, Hartmut Haenchen, Manfred Honeck, Anu Tali, Sebastian Tewinkel and Antoni Wit.
Linus Roth has been awarded several prizes, including the 1st prize of the "International Novosibirsk Violin Competition" in 1995, the 2nd prize of the International Music Competition "Joseph Szigeti" in 1997, and the
1st prize of the German Music Competition, combined with the Special Prize of the Schumannhouse Bonn in 2003 for the best interpretation of a work by Schumann.
Linus Roth plays on the A. Stradivari “Dancla” 1703, kindly loaned by the “L-Bank, Staatsbank of Baden-Württemberg”, Germany.
